03-29-2012: A cooling trend over the last few days dropped the water temperature back to more seasonable temperatures. Pine was near 60 last week. Warm for this time of year. This morning it was 48 degrees. Those upper teens and low 20's had an immediate impact on the low water. Hatches have been much better than normal. We still have Black Stone Flies hatching. That makes two months of above average numbers. I guess last years hydrolic cleansing and no anchor ice this past winter made ideal conditions for the bugs. We have had strong surface activity on Pine and the runs. If we can keep our water conditions, fly fishing with heavy hatches looks very possible. At any rate, the fishing season looks great at this point. Hatches are running a few weeks ahead so far. That could change with a drastic weather pattern change
